This is an online Procreate jewellery design course taught live by R3 Jewel Academy — an online-first jewellery design institute. Classes run in real time with a mentor watching your screen, not as pre-recorded videos you work through alone. Students join from across India and from abroad, so you learn from wherever you are, on your own iPad. The course is built for anyone who wants to master digital jewellery illustration and rendering in Procreate. You get hands-on guidance in using the app's tools, creating custom brushes, and rendering different jewellery textures and components.
Across the programme you will learn professional sketching techniques, realistic gemstone and
metal rendering, jewellery setting illustration, custom brush creation, and presentation
methods. Each module pairs theoretical understanding with practical exercises, so you build both
artistic creativity and technical precision. By the end of the course you will have produced a
presentation-ready portfolio aligned with current industry standards — whether you are a
complete beginner, a student, or an aspiring jewellery designer.

What you'll learn
Anyone enthusiastic about digital jewellery design, including complete beginners, artists, jewellery professionals, and creative entrepreneurs.
The course runs for 2.5 months (30 hours), including live practice, assignments, and final portfolio submission.
Course Fee: ₹23,500 (inclusive of 18% GST)
These are the teaching plates used in class — the reference work students build against, phase by phase. Each one matches a topic in the syllabus above.
You get 700 customised brushes with this course, plus a digital kit we share as PDFs — design inspiration and practice sheets to work through between classes. That is a large library by any standard.
But handing over brushes is the easy part, and on its own it caps what you can make. If a student only ever receives a fixed set of ready-made brushes, their work stays limited to what those brushes can draw. So we teach brush creation as part of the course. Once you can build a brush, you can make a new one for every concept that needs it — a particular chain, a specific cut, a texture nobody has handed you.
That is the difference we care about: not how many brushes you are given, but whether you can still work when the given ones run out.
Every illustration below was drawn and rendered by an R3 Jewel Academy student in Procreate on iPad during the course.

A batch capped at five is a deliberate choice. With more than that, a live class stops being a class and becomes a broadcast — nobody gets their work looked at properly.
The honest reason is speed. A client wants to see the idea, and Procreate lets you show them a finished-looking piece — stones, metal, setting, proportion — in a fraction of the time a CAD model takes. You can change the stone colour while they watch.
It also pairs well with manual designing. Hand sketching teaches you proportion and form; Procreate lets you render that idea properly. Learn both and you cover the whole core of jewellery design, from first concept to a presentation the client can approve. Along the way the course covers the things that decide whether a design is actually makeable:
Procreate runs exclusively on Apple's iPad, so to take this course you will need an iPad (any model that supports the current version of Procreate) and an Apple Pencil. The Procreate app is a one-time purchase from the App Store. Because classes are live and online, a stable internet connection and a quiet space to practise are also recommended. No prior digital-art experience is required — the course starts from the fundamentals of the Procreate interface and builds up to advanced rendering.
This course is mentored by Debolika Roy, a professional jewellery designer with 5+ years of experience, and by founder-mentor Rayala Rahul Rao, a National award-winning jewellery designer and GIA Gemologist & Diamond Graduate with 13+ years in the industry. They are part of a faculty whose students have won the National Jewellery Awards “Student of the Year” title for four consecutive years (2022–2025), with 17 national awards and 5,000+ alumni to date. Meet the full teaching team on our Mentors page.
Training is only half of it. We help students find work after the course in two ways: placement assistance for those who want a job in a design studio or manufacturing house, and freelancing support for those who would rather work for Switzerland/global clients or themselves — we connect you with jewellery businesses and established freelancers who can give you your first briefs.
Which route suits you is a decision worth making early, because it changes what you should be putting in your portfolio. Your mentor will talk it through with you.
