While the demands for designing Jewellery are increasing, there is a huge demand for professional Jewellery designers in Kolkata. Talk to our expert today. Why wait? Take the next step now and enroll in one of the courses.

Why Kolkata Students Choose R3 Jewel Academy

Kolkata is one of India’s historic jewellery-making centres, home to generations of goldsmiths and a thriving retail and manufacturing trade around hubs like Bowbazar. Demand for trained jewellery designers who can sketch, render and present designs professionally continues to grow across the city’s manufacturers, retailers and export houses. Our live online classes let you train with an award-winning academy without commuting — no entrance exam, flexible batch timings, and direct interaction with instructors in every session.

We are a West Bengal academy, not a national chain running a Kolkata landing page. R3 Jewel Academy is registered and based here, and the course is taught live rather than sold as recordings — so you get the same mentor contact a city classroom gives you, without travelling to one.

Every Course We Run, Open to Kolkata Students

Manual designing is where most students start, and it is the course detailed on this page. But every course below is taught live and open to students in Kolkata and across West Bengal — the same batches, the same mentors, no separate "regional" version. Fees are listed openly; nothing is held back behind an enquiry form.

If you are aiming at a job in a Kolkata manufacturing house or export unit, the usual route is manual designing first, then CAD in Rhino or Matrix — that pairing is what most employers here actually ask for. Full comparison on the course fees page.

Benefits

By the end of the course you will have a portfolio of finished, hand-drawn jewellery designs — rings, earrings, bangles, necklaces, and the traditional Indian pieces a Kolkata showroom actually sells. That portfolio is what gets you an interview at a manufacturing house or your first freelance brief; a certificate on its own rarely does.

Every student receives a jewellery designing kit worth ₹3,000 with this course. The kit is included with manual designing only, because this is the one course where you draw by hand and need the materials to do it.

Who Can Join

Anyone with interest in Jewellery & Gemology can join the course to explore the endless opportunities to be a Professional Jewellery Designer in Kolkata. This is an excellent opportunity for fresh graduates, working professionals, and creative enthusiasts who want to take their designing skills to the next level. Whether you are an aspiring designer or looking to enhance your skills, this course is ideal for you.

Course Duration

The duration for the complete course is 3 Months (72 Hours).

What You'll Need

Manual jewellery designing is a hand-drawn discipline, so you'll need basic art materials — a set of drawing pencils, paper, and colour media (markers or watercolours) — which your mentor will guide you on at the start. Because classes are live and online, a stable internet connection and a device to join from are also required. No prior art background is needed; the course begins with sketching fundamentals and builds up to complete, presentation-ready jewellery designs, including traditional Indian styles.

Your Manual Designing Mentor Sat Where You Are Sitting

Suparna Pattanayak Maity receiving the Student of the Year award at the National Jewellery Awards 2025, now manual jewellery designing mentor at R3 Jewel Academy
Suparna Pattanayak Maity at the National Jewellery Awards 2025. She studied manual designing here, won the national title, and now teaches the course.

Suparna Pattanayak Maity enrolled at R3 Jewel Academy as a student of manual jewellery designing. In 2025 she won Student of the Year at the National Jewellery Awards. She now teaches the manual designing course at the academy.

We point this out because it is the honest answer to the question worth asking before you pay for any course: has anyone actually got somewhere with it? Her certificate is from the same syllabus printed further up this page, and she is the person you will be learning from.

Hand sketching is where jewellery design starts. Before a stone is set or a file is opened, a designer has to be able to put the idea on paper — proportion, volume, how a piece will actually sit on the body. Learn that properly and CAD becomes a tool you direct rather than one you lean on. That is why we teach manual designing as a discipline in its own right, not as a warm-up for software.

Learn From an Award-Winning Faculty

Manual designing at R3 Jewel Academy is taught by Suparna Maity, a professional manual designer who specialises in artistic sketching and concept visualisation, as part of a faculty with 13–18+ years of industry experience. The academy was founded by Rayala Rahul Rao, a National award-winning jewellery designer and GIA Gemologist & Diamond Graduate, and our students have won the National Jewellery Awards “Student of the Year” title for four consecutive years (2022–2025). Meet the full teaching team on our Mentors page.
